Kim Ko

Born and raised in Malaysia, Kim migrated to Melbourne, where she obtained a double Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery and a Bachelor of Advanced Medical Science (Psychiatry) at The University of Melbourne. After completing the “Actor’s Studio 10 Foundation in Drama” at the Victorian College of Arts, she went on to develop her passion and craft with the Howard Fine Acting Studio Australia Full-Time Program 2014, and continued her training with Howard Fine’s Masterclass Workshop – Melbourne (2015, 2016) and the Professional Actors Masterclass 2015 hosted by the Australian Institute of Performing Arts in Los Angeles. She also attends ongoing Speech lessons with Voice coach Stephen Costan and singing lessons with musical actress Sally Bourne.
As part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival 2015, she played the titular character Jenny Chow in the Australian premier of Rolin Jones’ play The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow, and is a member of Boutique Theatre Ensemble 2016. She also starred in Fairy Tale News (Wit Incorporated Theatre), as part of the Melbourne Comedy Festival 2016.
She has appeared in the TV series Neighbours, and in the short film Heart Station. She is currently working with industry coach Bobby Galinsky on developing and writing an original story July Seventeenth, to be released in both novel and feature film format in the near future.
A native Mandarin speaker, Kim is also fluent in English, Bahasa Malay, Cantonese, and Chinese dialects of Hokkien and Hakka. She plays the piano and the Chinese YangQin. Having grown up with Chinese folk dance, she has also performed in several Flaredance Ensemble (University of Melbourne) productions in Contemporary, Lyrical Jazz, Broadway Jazz, and Ballet. She also keeps active with archery, tennis, swimming, and yoga.
